How it works
Four steps, no clinic visit.
Everything happens at home. Here’s how to get a sample that reflects your normal gut.

1. Order your kit
Order on the MeCheck shop. The kit contains a stabilising tube, collection equipment and instructions.
2. Collect your sample
Take a small stool sample using the kit and seal it in the stabilising tube, which keeps the bacterial DNA stable on its way to the lab.
3. Post it back
Use the free return postage. Post Monday to Thursday so your sample doesn’t sit in the post over a weekend.
4. Get your report
The laboratory sequences your sample and you receive a 28-page, password-protected report with your results and diet suggestions.
Timing your test
- After antibiotics, wait at least a month from your last dose. Otherwise the result reflects the antibiotics, not your usual gut.
- After a stomach bug, wait until you’ve been back to normal for a while.
- Eat as you normally do in the days before. The point is to see your everyday microbiome.
- Testing to track change? Do your first test before you change your diet, then retest a few months later.
Remember: your result is a snapshot of one day. Gut bacteria change with diet, illness and medicines.
